Betsy's short story "Colin's Crossing" won second place in the September 2011 flash fiction contest at LinkedIn's Aspiring Writers Group. The competition genre was Historical Fiction, with the theme: Coming to America, and the focus "Uncle Ed's Store". This was the first piece of Historical Fiction Betsy ever wrote.


Betsy's short story "Father's Day at the Beach" won first place in the June 2011 flash fiction contest at LinkedIn's Aspiring Writers Group. The competition genre was Humor, with the theme of Father's Day at the Beach and the highlight a purple turtle.
